“But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the Lord which He did” (Deuteronomy 11:7). 2013—the New Year—a time of anticipation filled with great expectations, plans and promise, as well as, a time for reflection. Looking back on the past 366-days there is much to be thankful for in spite of the shortfalls, shortcomings and disappointments. As you look back be honest in your reflections, and you will see how far you have come, God has brought you a mighty long ways. The good news is that He has brought you safely into the New Year and if you continue to trust Him this year it is not a hard thing for Jehovah to repeat himself.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future”(Jeremiah 29:10). The only thing we can be assured of is the plans and promises of Jehovah-El Shaddai, God the Almighty cannot fail. His plans hold the promises that anxiety will be replaced with anticipation, disappointment with success, hatred with love and war with peace. This is the joy of the New Year, 2013 and God wants you to have it, bask in it and cherish it every moment of the next 365-days. The choice is yours’ trust the plans of man or the plans of God, you choose this day, the first day of the New Year and 2013 will be very different year and much better.
“And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shall hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
Blessed shall thou be in the city, and blessed shall thou be in the field.
Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground,
and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine and the flocks of thy sheep.
Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
Blessed shall thou be when thou comes in, and blessed shall thou be when thou goes out” (Deuteronomy 28:2-6).
I wish you and your family, friends and neighbors a happy and Spirit-filled New Year with all the plans, promises and blessings of Jehovah coming your way. Be safe, be smart and be thankful—all the things you left in 2012 are there but God, Jesus Our Christ and the Holy Spirit are here with you today, tomorrow and for the rest of this year. Share the good news with family members, neighbors and friends. Be blessed until the blessed call you blessed. “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation” (Isaiah 12:2).
