A Congegational Prayer

O’Lord God—the Great, the Mighty God, whose name is Jehovah-Sabaoth (the Lord of Hosts). You are great in counsel and mighty in work your eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, to give everyone according to their ways and according to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah 32:17-19).

As we pray let us remember to pray for the lost, sick and down-trodden. Pray for the work of missions around the world and whatever else that may be on your mind and in your heart. Let’s praise God for His wonderful ways:

Father God, Jehovah El-Shaddai—the Almighty God, some trust in men, and some in wealth; but we remember Your name Jehovah El-Olam—the Everlasting God. They have bowed down to the prince of this world and fallen to his evil ways; but we have risen and stand upright. Save us O’Lord and answer when we call. You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Your people. Our fathers trusted in You, they trusted and You delivered them. They cried to You and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

We declare Your name to our brethren; in the midst of the assembly we will praise You. We, who fear You O’ Lord, praise You! We glorify You as the Lord God of our Fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For You have not despised nor abhorred the afflictions of the afflicted; nor have You hidden Your face from Him; but when He cried to You, You heard.

Indeed we have sinned against You, the Lord God of Israel, and the wages of sin is death, but Your gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Our transgressions are multiplied before You and our sins testify against us, for our transgressions are with us, and as for our
iniquities, we know them. You are the resurrection and the life. We believe in You, though we may die, we shall live. Show us Your ways O’Lord; teach us Your paths. Lead us in Your truth and teach us, for You are the God of our salvation, because Your loving-kindness is better than life, our lips shall praise You.

We will bless You while we live; we will lift up our hands in Your name. On You we wait all the day. We know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor that we through His poverty might become rich in grace to the glory of the Father. By Him all things were created that are in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands. May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace,
comfort our hearts and establish us in every good word and work. Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of our supplications!

The Lord is our strength and our shield; our hearts trust in Him and we are helped, our hearts greatly rejoice and with songs we will praise Him. Now to Him who is able to establish you according to the Gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began, to God alone wise, is glory through Jesus Christ forever. To him is glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
